Scam Alert

Tuesday, February 25, 2020

ASPPB has been made aware from another organization that some individuals have received telephone calls from persons falsely claiming to be with that organization’s staff or law enforcement.

ASPPB has been made aware from another organization that some individuals have received telephone calls from persons falsely claiming to be with that organization’s staff or law enforcement.  This other organization was alerted that some individuals had received telephone calls from persons falsely claiming to be with that organization’s staff or law enforcement. These scam phone calls have “spoofed” that organization’s telephone numbers, and therefore appear to originate from that organization. We have been told that the tone of these calls may be hostile, and in some cases, scammers have falsely claimed that a specific action is needed to prevent a license from becoming suspended. We understand that these incidents are like recent scam calls targeting other organizations.  ASPPB has not heard of any cases specific to psychology but wanted to alert our members and the public.

Please be wary of these scam calls and do not provide personal information over the phone to anyone you do not know or trust.
