ASPPB Credentials Bank: A Credentials Verification and Storage Program Overview

In August 1998, the ASPPB Mobility Program was launched.  The program was designed to ease professional mobility through two methods. One of those methods, the ASPPB Credentials Bank, was designed as a repository of licensure related information. The ASPPB Credentials Bank is the perfect place to store vital information such as:
§                     ASPPB EPPP Scores;
§                     Transcripts;
§                     Letters of recommendation;
§                     Internship and postdoctoral experience hours;
§                     Continuing education certificates

Importance for Licensed Psychologists

The Credentials Bank Program provides a way for psychologists to store evidence of their professional education, experience, prior licensure, exam performance and other achievements. Once archived, this information can be accessed and submitted to any psychology licensing board, employer or other agency per the psychologist’s written request. The convenience of the"Bank" helps to reduce potential hassles associated with documenting compliance with licensure criteria, particularly long after one’s training and initial licensure.

Information can be stored now and retrieved in the years ahead, perhaps even long after your last contact with internship supervisors or postdoctoral experience supervisors. Such archived documentation can be helpful in maintaining your licensure eligibility even after initial licensure.

Importance for Students
During the process of obtaining a doctoral degree, internship and supervised experience, students have easy access to content information regarding program designation, course descriptions, and internship and supervisor verifications. All too often, it is many years down the professional road before one realizes the difficulty that may be encountered in obtaining new licensure if relocation for job, family or other circumstances becomes a possibility or necessity. When this situation occurs, the information required by a new licensing board may be difficult to locate and obtain. Some of the reasons for this are that supervisors may have relocated or are deceased or program faculty and administrators may have changed. The task of providing original documentation of your education and experience can become a daunting one.

Information can be obtained and stored now in the ASPPB credentials bank while it is easy to locate your supervisors and retrieved in the years ahead.

Another benefit to maintaining a "Bank" file is that once your degree is granted, licensure obtained, and five years of licensed practice has been documented, your file can be reviewed as an application for the ASPPB Certificate of Professional Qualification in Psychology (CPQ).

Special Pricing for Students Completing Requirements for a Doctoral Degree in Psychology

§         $25.00 U.S. to OPEN a Credentials Bank file (this includes the first year)
§         $25.00 each year thereafter to MAINTAIN the Credentials Bank file
§         All fees are applied toward the $200.00 application fee for the ASPPB CPQ.

Are you prepared for a disaster?

Tornadoes, hurricanes, fires, earthquakes or other unanticipated events can destroy evidence of your professional training and experience which you may need for licensing and credentialing. Supplementing your existing files or opening a "Bank" record can offer peace of mind that documentation of your professional training and experience is safe and accessible. With the ASPPB Credentials Verification Program, your documentation is safe and stored electronically for your future needs.

(Please note: the licensing board to which you are applying may not accept your banked credentials for initial licensure. ASPPB encourages licensing boards to accept banked information as primary source verified)
